Wir freuen uns, eine neue Auslegung des Elder Futharks vorzustellen. Bezeichnung und Auslegung richten sich bei Runensätzen nach individuellen oder speziellen Schwerpunkten. Die Necromanten Runen fokussieren auf bestimmte Aspekte zwischen Diesseits und Jenseits, Wiederkehr und Wiedergeburt. Viele dieser Aspekte werden gerne mit schwarzer Magie und Schamanismus assoziiert und haben auch Gestaltung und Titel von diesem Runensatz inspiriert. Trotzdem ändert sich an den zentralen Bedeutungen der einzelnen Runen nichts - Genau wie bei den Runensätzen, die wir bisher vorgestellt haben, geht es nur um die akzentuierte Auslegung und das tiefere Grundverständnis zur Natur jeder einzelnen Rune.

Wir nutzen die Gelegenheit, um uns wie versprochen mit Techniken und Ritualen in Verbindung mit dem Elder Futhark und den Runensteinen zu beschäftigen. Den Umgang damit und welche Bedeutung man diesen Praktiken schenkt, das muß jeder für sich entscheiden und so praktizieren, wie es einem gefällt. Wir sind daran interessiert, Wissen, Geschichten und Ideen zu Runen zu sammeln und freuen uns sehr über Hinweise - also zögert nicht, uns neue Ideen oder altes Wissen zu berichten. Wir freuen uns außerdem über einen regen und inspirierenden Austausch zu allem, was mit Runen und Runenzaubern zusammenhängt.

Wir hoffen, Euch eine neue Sichtweise auf eine uralte Schreibweise zu eröffnen, die immer noch eine Bereicherung darstellen kann. Mit Hinweisen zu basic rune writing haben wir uns bereits detailliert beschäftigt, aber es werden bestimmt immer wieder neue tolle Beispiele auftauchen.

*Introducing the Necromancer Runes || HOUSE OF RUNES
We are excited to introduce a new set of runes. The designation and interpretation of rune sets are based on individual or special emphases. The Necromancer runes focus on certain aspects between this world and the hereafter, return and rebirth. Many of these aspects are often associated with black magic and shamanism and have also inspired the design and title. Nevertheless, nothing changes in the central meanings of the individual runes - just like the runes that we have presented so far, it is only about the accentuated interpretation, the deeper basic understanding and the specific nature of each individual rune.

We take the opportunity, as promised, to study techniques and rituals related to the Elder Futhark and the rune stones. How to deal with it and what importance you'll attache to these practices, is your own decision. We are interested in collecting knowledge, stories and ideas about runes and we look forward to receiving tips - so don't hesitate to tell us about new ideas or old knowledge. We are also looking forward to a vivid and inspiring exchange on everything related to runes and rune spells.

We hope to give you a new perspective on an ancient spelling that can still be an enrichment. We have already dealt with hints about basic rune writing in detail, but new great examples will certainly come up again.

1* Elder Futhark

1* elder futhark
The first important skill is to know all the runes, therefore the first thing to do is to learn the complete elder futhark. It has a total of 24 characters and is divided into three sections (Ættir), each group contains 8 runes. The earliest known of the full set dates to approximately AD 400 and is found on the Kylver Stone in Gotland, Sweden.

2* Runenschrift lesen

Wenn man alle Zeichen kennt, muß man noch ein paar Dinge über die Leserichtung wissen.

Grundsätzlich werden Runenreihen von rechts nach links gelesen. Es gibt aber Beispiele, bei denen die Leserichtung mit der zweiten Zeile wechselt und der Text wie eine Schlange mit jeder Zeile die Leserichtung fortlaufend ändert. Auch einzelne Runen können entgegen der Leserichtung ausgerichtet sein, sie werden Wenderunen genannt. Steht eine Rune auf dem Kopf, heißt sie Sturzrune.

Das reicht uns als Hinweise zum Lesen von Runeninschriften vorerst. Für rune casting ist nur die generelle Leserichtung von Interesse, die Wenderunen entfallen komplett. Kopf stehende Runensteine werden oft so interpretiert, das entweder die gegenteilige Auslegung ihrer Bedeutung zum Tragen kommt oder ihr Ausbleiben.

2* read runic writing
When you know all the signs, there are a few more things to know about the reading direction.
.
Basically, rune rows are read from right to left. However, there are examples in which the reading direction changes with the second line and the text changes reading direction continuously with each line like a snake. Individual runes can also be switched against the direction of reading, they are called mirror runes (Wenderune). Sometimes a rune can even be upside down (Sturzrune). 
.
That is enough for us as a guide for reading runic inscriptions for now. For rune casting, only the general reading direction is of interest, the mirror runes can only be written. The upside down runes are of great importance, as upside down runestones are often interpreted as either the opposite interpretation of their meaning or they point to something that is completely lacking or out of reach.

3* Binderunen
Neben den Runenzeichen des elder futhark gibt es weitere Zeichen, die etwas komplizierter und symbolhafter sind. Aus zwei oder mehr Runen können Binderunen erschaffen werden, das bedeutet die Zeichen werden miteinander verbunden und überlagert, um ein neues Zeichen zu erschaffen.

Da den einzelnen Runensymbolen neben ihrem Laut als magisches Zeichen bestimmte Bedeutungen haben, werden ihre Botschaften in der Binderune ebenfalls kombiniert. Je nachdem welche Runen zusammengebracht werden entstehen Binderunen mit sehr unterschiedlichen Kräften und Eigenschaften.

Das Design sollte so gewählt werden, das es den gewünschten Effekt darstellt und dementsprechend sehr dynamisch oder sehr ausgewogen aussieht. Die Binderune kann dann als Zeichen an einem Gegenstand angebracht werden, zum Beispiel kann eine Schutzrune über der Türschwelle am Türrahmen gezeichnet werden, oder als Schmuckstück oder Tätowierung getragen werden.

In addition to the runic letters of the elder futhark, there are other signs that are a bit more complicated and symbolic. Two or more runes can be used to create a binding rune, which means that the letters are combined to create a magic seal or symbol.

Since the individual rune characters have certain meanings in addition to their phonetic sound, their messages are also combined in the binding rune. Depending on which runes are brought together, seals with very different powers and properties can be created.

The design should be chosen in such a way that it represents the desired effect and accordingly looks very dynamic or very balanced. The binding rune can then be attached to an object, for example a protective rune can be drawn over the treshold on the door frame, or worn as a piece of jewelry or a tattoo.

4* Geheimrunen I
Die basics haben wir ausreichend besprochen, jetzt wollen wir uns einem sehr interessanten Thema widmen. Um Sprüche und Botschaften geheim zu halten, gibt es verschlüsselte Runen und geheime Schreibweisen.

Griffelrunen 
Eine relativ simple geheime Schreibweise sind die Griffelrunen, sie werden ins Pergament geprägt und sind nur bei sehr starkem Schlagschatten sichtbar oder können mit Graphitpulver abgepudert werden. Das ist keine unbekannte Technik und funktioniert natürlich auch mit jeder anderen Schreibschrift.

Cipher Runes: Koordinatenverschlüsselung
Eine andere Verschlüsselung haben wir bei den Necromancer Runes bereits angedeutet mit den Koordinaten der Runen. Die erste Koordinate steht für den Ætt, die zweite für die entsprechende Rune aus dem Ætt, zum Beispiel ist Raido aus dem 1.Ætt die 5. Rune. Damit kann man die Raido in eine Zweigrune umwandeln, die Äste zur linken Seite der Stabrune geben den Ætt an, die Äste zur rechten Seite die Rune. In unserem Beispiel hätte die Zweigrune eine Ast links und fünf Äste rechts.

With the elder futhark, the rune reading and how to create a binding rune we know enough about the basics, now we want to continue with a very interesting topic. To hide spells and messages, there are some ways for rune encryption and secret spellings.

Griffelrunen 
A very simple way to hide a spell is to embosse the runes into the parchment. They are only visible in the case of a very strong cast shadow or can be powdered with graphite powder. This is not an unknown technique and of course works with any other language.
.
Cipher Runes: coordinate encryption
We have already introduced another version of encryption with the rune coordinates in the recent Necromancer Runes posts. The first coordinate indicates the Ætt, the second coordinate indicates the corresponding rune, for example Raido is encrypted by 1st ætt, 5th rune. This can be used to convert raido into a branch rune, the branches on the left side indicate the Ætt, the branches on the right side the rune. In our example, the branch rune would have one branch on the left and five branches on the right.

4* Geheimrunen II

Die gleiche Verschlüsselung mit einer anderen Schreibweise finden wir bei den Zeltrunen. Hier werden jeweils zwei Runen zusammengebracht in einem großen X, sie werden im Uhrzeigersinn gelesen, angefangen beim oberen linken Arm, auf dem jeweils ersten Arm wird das Ætt angegeben, auf dem zweiten Arm die Rune.

„Iisruna“
Wiederholung zweier verschiedener einzelner (also unverbundener) Runen oder runenähnlicher Symbole, wobei deren Zahl der jeweiligen Koordinate entspricht. Ein Beispiel für eine solche Inschrift findet sich auf dem sogenannten Rotbrunna-Stein.

We find a similar encryption with a different spelling in the x-shape tent runes, each one representing two runes. The coordinates are drawn as strokes on the four arms, reading direction is clockwise, starting with the top left arm, the strokes on the first arm indicate the ætt, the strokes on the second arm indicate the rune.

iisruna
An amazing example of iisruna can be found on the "Rotbrunna stone". The coordinates are encrypted in the simple repetition of two sorts of strokes with different lenghts or rune-like symbols, the number of which corresponds to the respective coordinate. In our example Raido is written |IIIII - One long stroke for the 1st ætt and another five short strokes for the rune number.

5* Runen Sets

Runen funktionieren nicht nur als Laute sondern auch als Symbol, abgeleitet von ihrer ursprünglichen Übersetzung. Diese Bedeutungen sind je nach Auslegung etwas unterschiedlich in ihren Aspekten, aber an ihrer zentralen Bedeutung ändert sich nichts. Zum Beispiel bedeutet "fehu" wörtlich Vieh und wird oft mit Besitz und Wohlstand assoziiert, Reichtum kann sich aber auch auf viele andere Dinge beziehen: z.B. Erfahrung, Magie oder das persönliche Reservoir an Lebenskraft bei sehr spirituellen Auslegungen.

Sie sind jedenfalls die Basis für rune casting. Je nachdem welche Runen bei einer Befragung ausgeworfen werden, liegt als an den Fähigkeiten des Runenwerfers, sie richtig zu lesen und zu interpretieren. Dazu muss man nicht nur den elder futhark kennen, sondern auch die Bedeutungen jeder Rune bis in die Tiefe mit allen Aspekten. Es braucht ein ausgiebiges Studium und auch ein bißchen Erfahrung und Übung.

@fea.kreuz: "Such Dir ein Set mit Aspekten aus, das Deiner Natur am besten zusagt. Für den Anfang ist das ganz gut. Von hier aus mußt Du jede Rune selber entdecken und ihr Deinen eigenen Namen zuweisen. Du findest Reichtum hat mit Geld nix zu tun? Fein, bestimme selbst, was Reichtum für Dich bedeutet. Und wenn das drei Jahre dauert, dann ist das so, nicht alle Runen offenbaren sich gleich am Anfang. Es gibt auch kein richtig und kein falsch, und wenn sich die Natur einer Rune später in Deinem Gefühl verändert, dann ist das einfach so, denn es sind Deine Runen und Du mußt sie lesen!"

5* rune sets
Runes work both as a sound and as a symbol, derived from their original translation and meaning. These meanings are slightly different in their aspects depending on the interpretation, but nothing changes in their basic meaning. For example, "fehu" literally means cattle and is often associated with property and wealth, but wealth can also refer to many other things: Experience, magic or the personal reservoir of life force in a very spiritual interpretation.

The runes and the things they address are most important for rune casting. Depending on which runes are thrown out during a session, it's on the rune caster to read and interpret them correctly. It takes a lot of study and a bit of experience and practice.

@ fea.kreuz: "Choose a set with aspects that suit your nature best. It's a good starting point. Later you have to discover and to name each rune by yourself. You think wealth doesn't mean money? Fine, decide for yourself what wealth means for you. And if that takes three years, then that's the way it is, not all runes reveal their message right at the beginning. There is also no right and no wrong, and if you see the need to change the name, just do so! They are yours, and you have to read them! "

6* Runensteine & Runen werfen I
Runensteine sind das wichtigste Werkzeug einer Runenhexe oder eines Runenhexers. Ein vollständiger Satz besteht aus 25 Steinen, die 24 Zeichen des Elder Futharks und eine blanker Stein ohne Signatur: Odins Stein. Zur Herstellung eignen sich alle Arten von Kristallen und Naturedelsteinen, Holz, Bein oder ähnliches. Die Symbole werden aufgemalt oder besser noch eingraviert und in einem Beutel aufbewahrt, der sie vor schädlichen Einflüssen und fremder Berührung schützt. 
.
Um die Herstellung von machtvollen Runensteinen ranken sich viele Geschichten, manche davon sonderbar und auch recht gruselig. Es heißt, um die Runen vollkommen zu beherrschen braucht es nicht nur intensives Studium sondern auch eine starke Verbindung zu den persönlichen Runensteinen. Da nicht jeder in der komfortablen Lage ist, ein altes Set zu erben, das bereits durch vieler Runenhexen Hände gegangen ist und daher über viele Jahre eine machtvolle magische Präsenz entwickelt hat, kann man also seine Runensteine am Besten selbst herstellen, um das auszugleichen.

Für ungeübte Hände eignet sich Holz, wenn man über die nötigen Werkzeuge verfügt, kann man auch aus Steinen Runen herstellen. Bein (Knochen) erfordert eine schwierige Beschaffung, da meist gefundene Tierknochen verwendet werden, und genau wie mit Blut gesetzte Runen bewegen sich diese Praktiken nah an den Rand von Schamanismus als erdverbubdene Magie und Nekromantie als Magie, die ihre Kraft aus allem Toten, Vergangenen und Wiedergekehrten zieht. Hier ist außerdem Hygiene ein großes Thema. Nur um das in aller Klarheit zu erwähnen, wir raten davon dringend ab! Keinem Tier darf Schaden zugefügt werden, um Runensteine herzustellen!

Auch sehr alten Runensteinen wird große Kraft zugeschrieben, also entweder Sets, die durch viele Generationen gehen und weitervererbt werden oder Runensteinen die aus sehr alten Materialien hergestellt sind.

Runestones are the most important tool of a rune witch. A complete set consists of 25 stones, the 24 characters of Elder Futhark and a blank stone without a signature: Odin's Stone. All types of crystals and natural gemstones, wood, bone or the like are suitable for production. The symbols are painted on or, better still, engraved, the stones then kept in a bag that protects them from harmful influences and unauthorized contact.

There are many stories about the production of powerful rune stones, some of them strange and also quite creepy. It is said that in order to master the runes completely, you not only need intensive study but also a strong connection to your personal rune stones. Since not everyone is in the comfortable position of inheriting an old set that has already passed through the hands of a great many rune witches and has therefore developed a powerful magical presence over years of use, it is best to make your own rune stones by yourself to compensate for this.

Wood is suitable for inexperienced hands; if you have the necessary tools, you can also make runes from stone. Bones require a difficult process of collecting, as mostly found animal bones are used, and just like runes set with blood, these practices move close to the edge of shamanism as earth-bound magic and necromancy as magic that draws its power from everything dead, gone and returned. Hygiene is also a big issue here. Just to be clear, we strongly advise against it if you're not familiar with bone carving! No animal may be harmed to make rune stones! If any, make sure to use only things found in the woods and treat them properly. Bones needs to be cooked in soapwater for hours to become white and clean and the smell ist something entirely unpleasent.

Great power is also ascribed to very old rune stones, either sets that go through many generations and are passed on or rune stones made from very old materials.

However, most whitches use a bought set of rune stones and that's nothing to be ashamed of.

Tagesrune ziehen: Odins Rune
Bewahre die Steine in einem Beutel auf, der groß genug ist um hineinzugreifen. Ohne hineinzuschauen ziehst Du die Rune, die warm bei Berührung scheint oder Dich auf irgendeine andere Art aufmerksam macht. Lege sie aus oder wirf sie auf eine geeignete Unterlage. Beim Auslegen zählt die Lage in der Hand, genau so muß sie abgelegt und gedeutet werden. Beim Werfen entscheidet das Schicksal wie der Runenstein zum Liegen kommt. Über Auslegen oder Werfen laß am Besten den Zweck entscheiden, das Auslegen ist gut für Befragungen und Mediationen, das Werfen eignet sich für aktive Zauber und Beschwörungen oder Rituale, die sowieso mehr Platz fordern, z.B. ein Schutzkreis oder eine Verbannung.

Die Tagesrune zu lesen ist genauso einfach wie schwierig. Für den Anfang ist es leichter, eine Frage zu stellen. Sie sollte etwas allgemein gehalten sein und sich nicht mit einem simplen Ja oder Nein beantworten lassen, z.B "Was bringt der Tag?" anstelle von "Ist es ein guter Tag für ein bestimmtes Vorhaben?" Konzentriere Dich auf Deine Frage oder sprich sie laut aus, dann greife in den Beutel und zieh die Rune, die warm bei Berührung ist.

Odins Rune muß nicht zwingend aus den Runensteinen gelesen werden. Wer sensibel und aufmerksam genug ist, kann auch Ausschau halten, ob sich in alltäglichen Gegenständen und Situationen eine Botenrune offenbart. Das Zeichen im richtigen Moment zu sehen, ist jedoch ungewiss, suchen kann man danach nicht und warten kann man darauf auch nicht, und zu blindem Aberglauben darf es auch nicht anleiten. Es lohnt aber, den zweiten Blick zu schulen und aufmerksam zu sein.

Draw the day rune: Odin's rune
Keep the stones in a bag that is big enough to reach into. Without looking into it, you pull the rune that appears hot to the touch or draws your attention in any other way. Lay them out or throw them on a suitable surface. When laying out the position counts in the hand, this is exactly how it must be put down and interpreted. When throwing, fate decides how the rune stone comes to rest. Whether it is laying out or throwing it is best to decide on the purpose, laying out is good for questioning and mediation, throwing is suitable for active spells and incantations or rituals that require more space anyway, for example a protective circle or a banishment.

Reading the rune of the day is as easy as it is difficult. For starters, it's easier to ask a question. It should be somewhat general and not answerable with a simple yes or no, for example "What will the day bring?" instead of "Is it a good day for a certain project?" Concentrate on your question or say it out loud, then reach into the bag and pull out the rune, which is hot to the touch.

Odin's rune does not necessarily have to be cast from the rune stones. Those who are sensitive and attentive enough can also look out for a messenger rune revealed in everyday objects and situations. However, seeing the sign at the right moment is uncertain, you cannot look for it, you cannot wait for it, and it should not encourage blind superstition. However, it is worth practising the second look and paying attention.

Entscheidungsfragen: Die Runen-Schwestern
Für die Runen-Schwestern werden zwei Runensteine ausgelegt, diese Befragung eignet sich an Besten für Entscheidungsfragen. Sie können außerdem hilfreich sein, wenn man Zweifel an einem Plan oder einer Idee hat, oder umgekehrt, um eine feste Absicht zu prüfen und zu hinterfragen.
.
Bei den Runen-Schwestern geht es immer um das für und wider, aber sie bilden dabei eine feste Balance. Die Entscheidung können die Runen Dir nicht abnehmen, nach der Befragung mußte Du selbst zu Deinem Ergebnis kommen.
.
Die erstgezogene Rune spricht das Für, die zweitgezogene Rune spricht das Wider. Im Sinne eines echten Gleichgewichts ist es hier besonders wichtig, die Runenbotschaften mit ihren jeweiligen Aspekten gleichwertig gegenüber zu stellen. Daher gibt es eine Variante in der Auslegung, bei der ein zweiter Runenstein gezogen wird, wenn eine Spiegelrunen aufgedeckt wird. Die Lage des zweiten Runensteins, aufrecht oder kopfüber, entscheidet über den Aspekt der aufgedeckten Spiegelrune, hat aber sonst weiter keine Bedeutung für die Befragung. Dieser Handgriff betrifft die Spiegelrunen GEBO, ISAN, JERAN, EIHWAZ, INGWAZ, DAGAZ und abhängig vom verwendeten Zeichen in vielen Sets SOWILO.

Decision-making questions: the rune sisters
Two rune stones are laid out for the rune sisters, this questioning is best suited for decision-making questions. They can also be helpful when you have doubts about a plan or an idea, or vice versa, to check and question a firm intention.

The rune sisters are always about the pros and cons, but they show a solid balance. The runes cannot make the decision for you, after the questioning you have to come to your own conclusion.
.
The rune drawn first speaks for, the rune drawn second speaks against. In order to achieve a real balance, it is particularly important to compare the runic messages with their respective aspects on an equal footing. Therefore, there is a variant in the casting process in which a second rune stone is drawn when a mirror rune is revealed. The position of the second rune stone, upright or upside down, determines the aspect of the exposed mirror rune, but has no further significance for the questioning. This affects the mirror runes GEBO, ISAN, JERAN, EIHWAZ, INGWAZ, DAGAZ and, depending on the characters used, in many sets SOWILO.

Das vier Runen-Orakel ist eine raumgreifende Angelegenheit: die Runen werden in die vier Himmelsrichtungen geworfen, angefangen im Norden und dann im Uhrzeigersinn fortfahren.

Du konzentrierst Dich auf Deine Frage oder sprichst sie laut aus. Dann greifst Du in den Beutel und wählst die Rune, die warm bei Berührung ist. Zieh sie heraus und wirf sie in die jeweilige Richtung. Erst wenn alle Runen liegen läufst Du sie im Kreis ab, wieder angefangen im Norden und liest das Ergebnis ab.

The four rune oracle: asking the rune compass
Not to be confused with the "Viking compass" Vegvisir (Icelandic Galdrastafir), which we will introduce later. The four runic oracle is a space-consuming matter: the runes are thrown in the four cardinal directions, starting in the north and then proceeding clockwise.

You concentrate on your question or speak it out loud. Then you reach into the bag and choose the rune that is hot to the touch. Pull them out and throw them in each direction. Only when all the runes are in place do you run in a circle, starting again in the north and reading the result.

The first in the north describes your situation or your current state of mind.
The second in the east describes the obstacle or challenge.
The third in the south looks at the necessary course of action to solve problems.
The fourth in the west looks to the best possible outcome. But not necessarily will become true.

Ideally you have thrown the runes far enough that you can briefly think about each one as you run down before you know the next one.

The rune cross
For the rune cross, six runes are drawn from the bag and laid out, three in a row from left to right, the fourth is placed under the second, the fifth on top of the second and the last one under the fourth. First, you concentrate on your question or speak it out loud. The runic cross works good for questions related to feelings, moods, and strategies, but in a rather fuzzy way of showing a big picture and leaving out the bits important for short-term decisions. This is how they are read:

The second to the right represents the present.
The third to the right of the second represents a possible future.
The fourth under the second shows the cause of the question.
The fifth above the second shows what prevents the questioner from finding a solution or the reason for an indistinct answer.
The sixth under the fourth gives advice on the best possible solution.

But since we're talking about the Necromancer Runes, there is one more variant that focuses on it. How to read the necromancer's cross:
The first rune reveals things in life or during a life time quest.

Selten werden so viele Runen auf einmal sprechen, das machen sie nur bei Not oder wenn man sie zwingt, aber die wispernden Runen sind nichts für Anfänger. Sind es zu viele, brich die Befragung der Runen lieber ab.

And only an insane warlock would throw them all out at once.

Seldom will so many runes speak at once if not in desperate need or danger or if you force them, but the whispering runes are not for beginners. If there are too many, it is better to break off this questioning of the runes.

Runenreihe: Rauhnacht-Runen
Die Runenreihe ist ein jährliches Ritual und braucht viel Kraft, daher wird sie am Besten zu den Rauhnächten ausgelegt, wenn die Magie ungehindert durchs Land fließt.

In die Mitte kommt JERAN, das ist der Anker. Diese Rune sortierst Du zuvor aus dem Runenbeutel heraus. Dann ziehst Du die Steine, so wie sie in Deine Hand wollen, warm bei Berührung sind oder auf andere Weise Deine Aufmerksamkeit wecken. Du legst sie alle in eine Reihe, angefangen vom Ankerstein in der Mitte, Start ist nach links. Dann wechselst Du beim Anlegen die Seiten ab bis alle Runen in einer Reihe liegen, 12 zu jeder Seite, 12 Monate in beide Richtungen, jeweils ein Paar für einen Monat, ähnlich wie die Runen Schwestern. Also für Januar die beiden Runen links und rechts vom Ankerstein, für Februar die zweite Rune nach links und rechts usw.

Daraus kann man ablesen, nicht was das Jahr bringt, sondern zu welchen Vorhaben die Monate besonders günstig sind und was sie begünstigen.

Die Runenreihe kann auch zu anderen Fragen ausgelegt werden mit weniger Pahren. Dann muss Du einen zur Frage passenden Ankerstein wählen. Es bleibt dabei das immer zwei Runen ein Paar bilden, ähnlich wie die Runenschwestern.

Die Runenreihe ist nicht nur schwer zu lesen, sondern bleibt auch vage und trickreich. Noch schwieriger ist es, den Ankerstein zu ziehen.

Rune Row: Rauhnacht-Runen (Runes of the Rough Nights)
The rune row is an annual ritual and requires a lot of strength, so it's best practised on those rough nights between the years, when the magic flows freely through the country.

JERAN comes in the middle, that's the anchor. You pick this rune out of the rune bag beforehand. Then you pull out the runes jumping into your hand, hot to the touch or which attract your attention in a different way. You put them all in a row, starting with the anchor stone in the middle, first one to the left. Then you alternate the sides while putting on until all runes are in a row, 12 on each side, 12 months in both directions, one pair for one month, similar to the runes sisters. So for January are laid out the two runes to the left and right of the anchor stone, for February the second rune to the left and right, etc.

The rune row doesn't tell the future, but for which projects the months are particularly favorable.

The rune row can also be used for other questions with fewer pairs. Then you have to choose an anchor stone that supports the question. It remains that two runes always form a pair, similar to the runes sisters.

Recht wahrscheinlich sind Runen in den Anfängen ihrer Entwicklung als Schriftzeichen nicht wirklich zum Schreiben von Texten verwendet worden, sondern als magische Zeichen zum Wirken von Zaubern. Es wird zwar vermutet, das Runensteine für Prophezeiungen benutzt wurden, aber es gibt keinen direkten Nachweis dafür. Das Wort "Rune" leitet sich ab vom Altnordischen "rúnar" : Geheimnis / geheime Überlieferung. Das liefert einen Hinweis darauf, das das Wissen über Runen Eingeweihten vorbehalten war und als esoterisch eingestuft wurde.

Unabhängig von der ungeklärten Verwendung zu Ihrer Entstehungszeit existiert der ungebrochene Glaube an die Kraft der Runen und über Generationen von Runenhexern und Eingeweihten sind magische Runenzauber und Rituale mündlich überliefert worden. Damit wollen wir uns als Nächstes beschäftigen.

In the beginning, runes were not actually used as characters for writing texts, but as magical symbols for working spells. While it is believed that rune stones were used for divination, there is no direct evidence of this. The word "rune" is derived from the Old Norse "rúnar": secret / hidden lore. This provides an indication that the knowledge of runes was restricted for the initiated and was considered as esoteric.
.
Regardless of the use at the time of their creation, there is an unbroken belief in the power of runes and magical rune spells and rituals have been passed down over generations of rune sorcerers and initiates. We'll deal with that next.

Runenkreis: Schutzkreis
Ein Schutzkreis kann auf die Erde gelegt werden, um alles zu beschützen, was sich im Inneren befindet. Je größer der Radius, desto mehr Kraft wird benötigt, um einen starken Zauber zu wirken. Dazu können die Runensteine kreisförmig ausgelegt werden oder mit Kreide gezeichnet werden oder man schreitet den Kreis ab und spricht dabei die Runen laut aus. Runenhexer, die mit dem Ritual vertraut sind, können die Runen auch geistig manifestieren ohne sie zu sprechen. Auch können die Runen in die Erde geritzt werden, mit einem Athamé oder ganz simpel mit einem Ast. Werden die Zeichen aufgemalt, kann die Kraft erhöht werden, je nachdem was als Tinte verwendet wird.

Mit der letzten Rune wird der Schutzkreis geschlossen, dann wird der Zauber im Zentrum aktiviert, indem man in die Mitte tritt, die Hand in die Erde drückt oder den Boden berührt und den jeweiligen Patron oder Schutzgeist anruft, durch eine Gabe, ein Räucherwerk oder einen Tropfen Wein, Harz, Wachs oder Blut auf den Mittelpunkt des Runenkreises.

Am stärksten ist der Runenkreis wenn er für die Dauer seiner Wirkung nicht mehr überquert wird und man ihn zwischenzeitlich nicht verläßt. Das Ritual endet indem der Runenkreis entweder aktiv unterbrochen wird oder wenn bei seiner Aktivierung eine Wirkungsdauer festgelegt wurde. Zum Beispiel bis ein Räucherwerk oder eine Kerze im Zentrum verbrannt ist oder bis die Sonne wieder aufgeht usw.

rune circle: protection spell
A circle of protection can be placed on the earth to protect everything that's inside. The larger the radius, the more power it takes to cast a powerful spell. Lay out the rune stones in a circle or, for a much stronger spell, draw the runes with chalk on the ground. You can also walk around the circle and say the runes out loud. Rune witches and witcher who are familiar with the ritual can also mentally manifest the runes. Outside the runes can be carved into the earth with an athamé or, quite simply, with a branch. If the characters are painted on, the force can be increased depending on what is used as ink.

With the last rune the circle of protection is closed, then the magic is activated by stepping into the center, pressing your hand into the earth or touching the ground and calling on the respective patron or guardian spirit, through a gift, an incense or a drop of wine, resin, wax or blood on the center of the rune circle.
.
The rune circle is strongest if not crossed for the duration of the spell and not left in the meantime. The ritual ends when the rune circle is either broken by removing a symbol or when a duration period has been specified, for example, until an incense or candle has burned down in the center or until the sun rises again, etc.

Runenbund
Wir kennen den Runenkreis noch aus einem anderen Ritual. Wenn eine Gruppe von Personen für ein bestimmtes Ziel oder eine gemeinsame Aufgabe einen Bund formen will, können sich alle Beteiligten in einem Kreis aufstellen, der Runenbeschwörer tritt in die Mitte und zieht für jede Person eine Rune. Wenn der Runenhexer Teil der Gruppe ist, bleibt die Mitte leer und Odin bestimmt die Runen, d.h. jeder greift in den Beutel und zieht seinen eigene Rune, möglichst die, die warm bei Berührung ist.
.
Der Trick dabei ist, das jeder seinen Runenstein BEHÄLT, bis die jeweilige Unternehmung erfüllt ist. Wenn man davon ausgeht, das jede Runenhexe und jeder Runenhexer eine sehr enge Bindung zu seinen Runesteinen hat, fallen dabei zwei Dinge auf. Erstens braucht es großes Vertrauen, die Runenstein wegzugeben, bis die Gruppe ihr Ziel erfüllt hat. Und es entsteht eine machtvolle Bindung zwischen alle Beteiligten und dem jeweiligen Runenbeschwörer für die Dauer des Runen-Rituals. Dazu kommt noch die Botschaft oder Aufgabe, die für jeden Einzelnen mit seiner jeweils gezogenen Rune verbunden ist.

Rune Bond
We know the rune circle from another ritual. If a group of people wants to form a covenant for a specific goal or a common task, everyone involved can line up in a circle, the runecaster steps in the middle and draws a rune for each person. If the runecaster is part of the group, the middle will be left blank and Odin will determine the runes: Everyone reaches into the bag and draws a rune, preferably the one that is hot to the touch.
.
To build the bond everyone will KEEP the rune stone until the mission is completed. If one assumes that every rune witch and every rune witcher is very very carefully and sensitive with the own rune stones, two things stand out. First, it takes great trust to give the runestone away until the group accomplishes its goal. And a powerful bond is created between all those involved and the respective runecaster for the duration of the rune ritual. In addition there is the message or task that is associated with the rune drawn for each individual.

Runenbund
Wenn die Beschwörung sich noch mehr auf die Bindung der Teilnehmer fokussiert, können alle Runen nach verschiedenen Regeln aufgeteilt werden. Wenn der Runenbeschwörer zwei Personen bindet, erhält jeder 8 Runen (aus dem Beutel gezogen) oder ein vollständiges Aett, Odins Rune bleibt für beide Variationen im Beutel (und vor allem beim Runenbeschwörer), das ist der Anker für alle Runensteine. Für 3 Personen erhält jeder 6 Runensteine (und der Beschwörer zusätzlich die Odins-Rune) oder jeder ein Aett und der Beschwörer nur die Odins-Rune. Bei 5 Personen erhät jeder drei Runen und 10 bleiben im Beutel, bei 6 erhält jeder 4 Runen und Odins Rune bleint im Beutel. Bei 7 Personen erhält jeder 3 Runen und 3 bleiben im Beutel (+ Odins Rune). Bei 8 Personen erhält ebenfalls jeder 3 Runen und Odins Rune bleibt im Beutel.

Für alle weiteren kann jeder Person nur ein Rune ziehen, mehr als 24 Personen können nicht auf einmal gebunden werden und dann ist die Bindung auch nur sehr schwach, egal wie stark das Runenset ist. Am stärksten ist die Bindung für 3 und 8 Personen, am schwächsten für 5 und mehr als 8.
.
Für einen bekannten Zeitraum von unbestimmter Dauer (bis alle Runensteine wieder zusammenkommen) entsteht so ein gefestigter Personenkreis, es können keine weiteren Mitglieder dazukommen und es kann niemand die Gruppe verlassen, ohne die Bindung zu zerstören. Geht ein Stein verloren, wird nicht nur die Bindung sondern auch die Essenz des Runensatzes zerstört. Bei sehr alten sehr mächtigen Runensätzen ist das natürlich ein unfaßbares Desaster.

Rune Bond
If the incantation focuses even more on binding the participants, then all runes can be divided according to different rules. If the runecaster binds two people, each receives 8 runes (pulled from the bag) or a complete aett, Odin's rune remains in the bag for both variations (and especially with the runecaster), this is the anchor for all rune stones. For 3 people each receives 6 rune stones (and the runewitch also receives the Odin rune) or each one an aett and the runecaster only the Odin rune. With 5 people each receives three runes and 10 remain in the bag, with 6 each receives 4 runes and Odin's rune remains in the bag. With 7 people each receives 3 runes and 3 remain in the bag (+ Odin's rune). With 8 people, everyone receives 3 runes and Odin's rune remains in the bag.
.
For all others, each person can only draw one rune, more than 24 people cannot be bound at once and then the bond is very weak, no matter how strong the rune set is. The bond is strongest for 3 and 8 people, the weakest for 5 and more than 8 people.
.
For a known period of indefinite duration (until all rune stones come together again), a consolidated group of people is created, no further members can join and no one can leave the group without destroying the bond. If a stone is lost, not only the bond but also the essence of the rune set is destroyed. In the case of a very old, very powerful rune set, this is of course an incredible disaster.

Runenkerze
Um einen Wunsch oder eine Segnung zu manifestieren, kann eine Rune oder Binderune in eine Kerze geschnitten werden. Der Zauber wirkt entweder solange bis die Kerze heruntergebrannt ist oder wird aktiviert nachdem sie heruntergebrannt ist.

Außerdem kan man einen Wunsch auf einen Pergamentstreifen schreiben und diesen mit einer Kerze entzünden. Der Zauber wird aktiviert in dem Moment wenn das Feuer erlischt und sich Rauch ausbreitet. Er hält solange bis die Asche in den Wind gestreut wird, daher muß man die Asche versiegeln um den Zauber haltbar zu machen.

Es gibt viele viele andere Rituale, je nach Talent, Vorliebe und Tradition.
Und natürlich können auf die gleiche Weise auch Flüche und Verwünschungen gewirkt werden.

a rune candle
To manifest a wish or blessing, a rune or binding rune can be cut into a candle.
The spell either works until the candle has burned down or is activated after it has burned down.

A wish can be written on a strip of parchment. Light it with a candle and the spell is activated the moment the fire ist snuffed out and smoke spreads. It lasts until the ashes are scattered in the wind, so you have to seal the ashes to make the magic last.

a bind rune consists of two or more runes. if they match, they increase their meaning and impact. a binding rune can also combine the letters of a name into a sigil, a symbol that can be used like a coat of arms. the shape and dynamics of the chosen binding are of great importance for their purpose and must therefore be chosen carefully. depending on their design you can still recognize all the components later or everything will be woven together into something completely new. very old, traditional binding runes should therefore be cited carefully so that their origin shapes are not lost due to alienation.

Um eine eigene Binderune herzustellen, wähle zunächst Runen aus, die verbunden werden sollen. Nicht alle Runen passen gut zusammen, manche verkörpern durchaus gegensätzliche Konzepte und wollen nicht gewaltsam in eine Form gebracht werden. Eine mächtige Binderune vereint zwei oder mehr Runen, die sich gegenseitig bevorteilen oder sogar potenzieren. Zusätzlich sollte ihr Design den erwünschten Charakter ausdrücken. Ausgewogene ruhige Formen oder dynamische Designs sollten nicht gegen die jeweilige Bedeutung stehen.

Um sie als Zeichen zu verbinden, zeichnet man eine Rune auf und versucht dann, einen oder mehrerer Striche davon für eine weitere zu verwenden. Dazu kann man auch die entsprechenden Runen auf Transparentpapier zeichnen und die beiden Runen durch Verschieben in Deckung bringen. Meist ergeben sich mehrere Möglichkeiten und man wählt zum Schluß eine aus, die dann weiter entwickelt wird.

Die neue Binderune kann viele Zwecke erfüllen, als Schmuck oder Tätowierung getragen werden, an Haus und Hof oder Gegenständen als Emblem angebracht, aufgemalt oder eingebrannt werden. Auch die Verwendung sollte nicht gegen das Wesen einer Rune gewählt werden. Und zuletzt kann auch die Art der Verwendung ihre Macht stärken oder brechen, es ist immer noch ein Unterschied, ob eine Rune nur mit Kreide gezeichnet wird, ins Holz gebrannt ist oder sogar in Stein geschlagen wird.

a bind rune consists of two or more runes. if they match, they increase their meaning and impact. a binding rune can also combine the letters of a name into a sigil, a symbol that can be used like a coat of arms. the shape and dynamics of the chosen binding are of great importance for their purpose and must therefore be chosen carefully. depending on their design you can still recognize all the components later or everything will be woven together into something completely new. very old, traditional binding runes should therefore be cited carefully so that their origin shapes are not lost due to alienation.

To make your own bind rune, first select runes to be linked. Not all runes are suitable for a combination, some quite embody opposing concepts and do not want to be forcibly linked. A powerful bind rune combines two or more runes that mutually benefit or even potentiate one another. In addition, their design should express the desired character. Balanced calm shapes or dynamic designs shouldn't work against the meaning.

To connect them as a symbol, draw a rune and then try to use one or more strokes of it for the second rune while only adding missing strokes. You can also draw the corresponding runes on tracing paper and move the two runes into alignment. Usually there are several possibilities, select the best design for a final composition.

The new bind rune can serve many purposes, be worn as jewelry or tattoos, attached to the house and yard or objects as an emblem, painted on or burned in. The use should not be chosen against the nature of a rune. And finally, the way it is used can also strengthen or break its power, it still makes a difference whether a rune is only drawn with chalk, burned into wood or even carved in stone.
